Knit respects your privacy. Knit is designed to help people connect within trusted circles, and we collect only the information reasonably necessary to create your account, provide Knit’s features, keep the service secure, and improve how it works.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, when it may be shared, and the choices you have regarding your information.
Information We Collect:
Account Information
When you create a Knit account, we collect your phone number.
We use your phone number to:
Create and authenticate your account;
Verify your identity;
Help protect the security of your account;
Allow you to access and use Knit; and
Communicate with you when necessary regarding your account or the operation of the service.
We do not sell your phone number or use it for third-party advertising.
Profile Information
You may choose to provide additional information as part of your Knit profile, such as your name, profile photo, or other information you choose to share.
Providing this information is optional unless otherwise indicated within the app.
Content You Provide
When you use Knit, you may choose to create, send, or share information through the app.
This may include:
Posts and requests;
Check-ins or status updates;
Messages and other communications;
Items or information shared through lending or community features;
Responses, comments, or other interactions; and
Other content you choose to provide through Knit.
We collect and store this information in order to provide Knit’s features and make your content available to the people or circles you choose to share it with.
Circle and Connection Information
Knit may process information about the circles you belong to and the people you interact with through the service.
This information is used to provide Knit’s social and community features, including determining where content should appear and who should be able to view or interact with it.
Device and Technical Information
Knit and the service providers that help us operate the app may process limited technical information necessary to provide and maintain the service.
Depending on the features you use, this may include information such as device identifiers, push-notification tokens, app version, device type, diagnostic information, or basic usage information.
We may use this information to deliver notifications, troubleshoot problems, maintain security, understand how the app is functioning, and improve Knit.
How We Use Information
We use information collected through Knit to:
Create and authenticate user accounts;
Provide and operate Knit’s features;
Deliver posts, messages, requests, check-ins, and other content to the intended users or circles;

Maintain the security and integrity of the service;
Detect, prevent, or address misuse, fraud, technical problems, or safety concerns;

Understand and improve how Knit functions; and

We do not use your personal information for third-party advertising or cross-app advertising tracking.
How Information Is Shared
Knit is built around sharing within trusted circles.
Content you create may be visible to the people, groups, or circles you choose to share it with. Direct messages are shared with the people participating in those conversations.
You should only share information through Knit that you are comfortable sharing with the intended recipients.
With Service Providers
We may use trusted third-party service providers to help us operate Knit.
These providers may support functions such as:
Account authentication;
Cloud hosting and data storage;
Text messaging or account verification;
Email communications;
Push notifications;
App analytics;
Error monitoring or diagnostics; and
Other technical infrastructure.
These providers may process information on our behalf only as reasonably necessary to provide their services to Knit.
For Legal, Security, or Safety Reasons
We may disclose information if we reasonably believe doing so is necessary to:

Protect the rights, property, or safety of Knit, our users, or others;

We Do Not Sell Personal Information
Knit does not sell your personal information.
We also do not use your personal information for third-party advertising or sell information about your activity to advertisers.
Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Knit, maintain your account, protect the security of the service, and meet legitimate legal or operational requirements.
The length of time we retain particular information may depend on the type of information and why it was collected.
We may retain limited information after account deletion when reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or enforcement of our agreements.
Account and Data Deletion
You may delete your Knit account through the account settings available within the app.
When you delete your account, we will delete or de-identify personal information associated with your account, including your account information and user-generated content, subject to limited exceptions where retention is reasonably necessary for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or compliance purposes.
Certain content may remain temporarily in backups or technical systems before being fully removed.
In some circumstances, content you previously shared with other users may also remain where necessary to preserve the context of another user's conversation or activity, but we will take reasonable steps to remove or de-identify information that directly identifies you.
You may also contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information.
Notifications and Communications
If you enable push notifications, Knit may send you notifications related to activity in the app, messages, requests, check-ins, or other service-related information.
You can control push notifications through your device settings and, where available, through settings within Knit.
We may also send communications that are necessary to authenticate your account, maintain security, provide important information about the service, or respond to requests you make.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect the information entrusted to us.
However, no method of transmitting information over the internet or storing information electronically can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Your Choices
Depending on how you use Knit, you may be able to:
Update certain profile information;
Control what you choose to post or share;
Choose which circles receive your content;
Manage notification preferences;
Delete content you have created; and
Delete your Knit account.
You may also contact us with questions or requests relating to your personal information.
Children's Privacy
Knit is not intended for children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.
If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate authorization, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as Knit evolves or as our legal, technical, or operational practices change.
If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, when appropriate, provide notice through Knit, our website, or another reasonable method.
